Claymation bass...

claymation bass      gumby & pals

Here's a bass from Italy called the Laurus Quasar SL-20 (good name). As you can see, Gumby is a headstock design. For your convenience, I've included a picture for your comparison pleasure. (And hey, stop bugging me about this bass - I really like it, just like how I like Gumby, okay?! Had a chance to play a 6 string one and it was super!!!  (thanks for the picture andy!)

Ibanez AFR bass

This interesting little bass showed up on ebay just a few days after I saw one in Boston. It's actually quite a nice little bass if you don't mind it's unconventional looks. The headstock looks a bit too small and pointy for my taste but I guess they were going for the whole 'minimal vibe'. It's really light and plays good too. It has a piezo in the bridge that can be blended with the magnetic pickup. I'm actually not going to make fun of this bass, I just put it up here since it's a bit different!

teeny upright for you?

These are neat! A Mr. Ross Anderson builds these smallish uprights in Australia. They're full scale but have a VERY downsized body. I love playing upright but they become absolutely hateful the minute you have to move them around. I like the picture where the bass's case is sitting sideways in the stationwagon - demonstration pictures are SO cool! If you wanna see more pictures, you can visit Mr. Anderson's page here: http://home.iprimus.com.au/rossjazz/Double_Bass.htm
