This bass is a genuine treasure of Rock and Roll History and someone will own it soon. It could be you. Serious inquiries only..."

Rice Paddle/Bass

rice paddle/bass

is it a bass? or a rice paddle? keith found this rice paddle/bass at a local craft fair. knowing that jon is fond of both basses and rice, keith bought it as a present for him, mailed it, and as you can see from the pictures below, jon likes his new rice paddle/bass very much. i tell you, the guy has no shame.

Good Twins and Evil Twins

washburns

my e-pal steve "dude" barr and i were chatting about amusing basses the other day, and he was sweetie enough to send me a picture of a matching set of Washburn Rudy Sarzo basses from the 80's. anyone remember Quiet Riot? well, to be honest, at first i actually thought these twin Washburns were kinda...well, 'neat'. (i also appreciate the very orderly-looking workspace - i wonder if he tidied up before taking this picture?). these basses really don't irk me or strike me as ugly or bizarre the same way lots of the other 'amusing basses' we have here do. but the cool (?) part was that steve thoughtfully "bundled" this picture with a supplementary picture of...um...'other twins' (see below). when viewed as a set, the Washburns DO become sorta creepy, come to think of it. isn't there always something inherently freakish and unsettling about twins? or is it just the barbi twins?
