Being a bassist who learned to play on Fender Jazz and Precision basses, I am always right at home on a Jazz style bass with the twenty fret, thirty four inch scale set-up. Pat has done a simply incredible job with this Wilkins Custom Jazz bass that he has constructed. The feel of the maple neck is smooth as silk and makes getting around the fret board a real breeze. The sound of the bass from the chambered alder body and maple top is clear, resonant and really biting for the slap and pop style of playing. The Demeter pre-amp with the NRS and the John Suhr nulling coil along with the vintage Suhr pickups give this Jazz bass a super strong sonic presence. As Pat is widely known for his expert finishes, the fire burst color on the body really puts the extra icing on the cake. If you are a Jazz bass player and you are looking for a bass with something a little different and yet with familiarity, you must give this Wilkins Custom Jazz bass some serious consideration.

This instrument is documented in the BunnyBass Musical Instrument Archive.
